Jr. A team wins 4-0 in only game of weekend

The Philadelphia Revolution Premier Jr. A team was the only team in action over the weekend. They made the short trek to the Rock Ice Center in Dunellen, New Jersey and came back with a 4-0 drubbing of the Rockets Premier team.

This was a highly anticipated match-up between the two teams after the atrocities of the last game they played against each other. In the weekend prior, the Revolution played host to the Rockets and sent them home after beating them 6-2. The Rockets had been losing in every aspect of the game and they'd lost all composure by the end of the game.

With less than a minute to play in that game, Rockets forward Tanner Kahlau shot the puck at the Revolution bench during a stoppage in play as the officiating crew determined the specifics of a call. Kahlau's actions were unprovoked and the puck had come within inches of the Revolution's Assistant Coach Tyler Hostetter's head. The disgusting act resulted in both teams leaving their respective benches to meet at center ice for a good old-fashioned donnybrook.

Needless to say, the Rockets' unsportsmanlike conduct at the end of that game was on the minds of all the players for the second to last meeting of the season between the two teams. They will play against each other for the final time in 2016-17 on February 25.

In their most recent game, both teams skated to a 0-0 tie after the first period. After the intermission, the Revolution exploded to score three unanswered goals. The two teams inevitably started playing much more physically as they combined for 26 penalty minutes.

Austin Morgan scored the first goal of the game with the assists being credited to Richie McCartney and Sean Condra. About four minutes later, Brycon Johnson would score the first of his two goals on the day. Johnson's goal was assisted by defensive partners Joey Rosa and David Melaragni. Guy Roby had quite a second period for his team. He started with a hard penalty in the beginning of the stanza which led to him sitting in the penalty box for 12 minutes. Then, he scored the team's third goal of the day after passes by Bryce Witman and Austin Morgan. With just four seconds left in the second period, Roby was charged with a Cross-Checking penalty. Roby was in obvious disagreement and was also ejected from the game for "Abuse of Officials".

It was obvious that the Rockets had no interest in the game in the third period. They tried to knock the Revolution off their game but were charged with two consecutive Roughing penalties. Then, Rockets forward Donny Flynn committed a Slashing penalty and also received a 10-minute Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. It only took ten seconds after Flynn's theatrics for Brycon Johnson to score the game's last goal of the game. His goal was assisted by Austin Junger and Richie McCartney.

Unsurprisingly, the two teams combined for 56 total penalty minutes. Russia-native goaltender Daniil Gerasimov kept his cool the entire game and stopped all 34 shots he faced for the shutout win.

The two teams will face-off against each other for the fifth and final team this season on Saturday, February 25 at the Rock Ice Center. The puck drop is scheduled for 3:00PM.
