Junior A goaltender ready to fly with Cardinals

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Revolution are proud to announce that goaltender Anthony Del Tufo officially committed to Plattsburgh State University for the 2020-21 season.

The Cardinals are an NCAA Division III program located in Plattsburgh, NY. The Men’s Ice Hockey team skates out of the State University of New York Athletic Conference and has won 23 SUNY titles.

Del Tufo, 20, recorded 11 wins during his first season with the Revolution while posting a 3.11 goals-against-average and .929 save percentage. Prior to joining Philadelphia, Del Tufo spent time with the Maryland Black Bears (NAHL) and Team Maryland (EHL) in 2018-19, who are also members of the Black Bear Sports Group.

Additionally, the Livingston, NJ native’s save percentage ranked in the top ten for the Eastern Hockey League.

The 5-foot-10 netminder expressed that Plattsburgh State was his “number one choice” when deciding on his NCAA commitment.

“I had a chance to tour the school right after the season and I fell in love with the campus,” said Del Tufo. “The coaches are really genuine guys and care about their players, and I was happy to continue to talk with them as the process went on.”

Del Tufo believed that the Revolution staff also played a significant role in the commitment process.

“They were very good at getting in touch with schools,” said Del Tufo. “They really cared about us and I think that was a little extra motivation and they could see our passion, and I could see their passion in helping us. I think that really helped everyone (teammates) get to where they wanted to be.”

Junior A head coach Jon Rogger expressed that the young netminder will excel at the next level because of his "competitive" mentality.

"Del Tufo is a goalie that I feel will do really well at the college level because he's a competitor and hates to lose," said Rogger. "He is one of those guys that step up when your team needs him the most."

Rogger also noted that Del Tufo possesses a unique and valuable skill.

"His ability to play the puck is a big asset and for a coach, it's like having a third defenseman on the ice for your team. This will be one more reason I think he will succeed at the NCAA level next season."

Plattsburgh State gained a talented goaltender and compassionate teammate between the pipes, and Del Tufo is ready to seize his next chapter of strapping on the pads.

“Not everyone is lucky enough to play another four years especially at this level and I’m just very fortunate that I have the opportunity to do that.”
