Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Revolution are proud to announce that forward Trevor Clemson officially committed to Fitchburg State University for the fall of 2020.
The Falcons are an NCAA Division III program located in Fitchburg, MA, just outside of Worcester. The Men’s Ice Hockey program is led by head coach, Dean Fuller. Additionally, the Falcons skate out of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Clemson, 19, was acquired via trade by Philadelphia from the Connecticut Jr. Rangers of the National Collegiate Development Conference back in December.
The 5-foot-10 forward recorded 20 points (12g-8a) in 21 games played with Philadelphia this season. Clemson also netted two game-winning goals on the year, while displaying his physical presence on a nightly basis.
The Bedminster, NJ native’s statistics speak volumes to his character and smooth transition with the Revolution since joining the team at the midway point of the season.
“Clemmer is a great kid and makes the entire room laugh,” said Revolution head coach, Jon Rogger.
“His transition to the team was pretty easy and I think because he gets along with everyone and likes to make guys smile. He is a great character kid who competes day in and day out and when you put those two things together, and it's hard not to like a guy like that. I think Trevor's personality will allow him to adjust to the college level both on and off the ice.”
The 19-year-old also commented on his enjoyable transition to the Revolution.
“Coming over to the Revolution was pretty easy,” said Clemson. “Coach Rogger made it easy and all of the guys in the locker room made it easy for me. I think that’s just why it worked out so well.”
It’s not always easy making a big transition such as Clemson’s, but the youngster blossomed in a Revolution sweater and was just shy of being a point-per-game skater. Rogger expressed why he believed that Clemson was so effective with Philadelphia and will excel at the NCAA level.
“His biggest strengths are his speed and ability to see the ice and know where he needs to be at all times,” said Rogger.
“He also knows how to finish. His speed allows him to create offense for himself and his line mates, which opens up the ice. These qualities are what separates him from a lot of players in our league and will be an asset at the NCAA level next season.”
While Clemson has impressed and enjoyed his time in Philadelphia, the right-handed shot voiced his excitement for the future at Fitchburg State.
“I went up there (Fitchburg State) and really loved it,” said Clemson. "I fell in love with the campus, the rink, hockey staff, coaching staff – everything about it.”
The dynamic skater also shared a fair perspective on his commitment.
“I just envisioned myself going there,” said Clemson. “I felt very comfortable making that decision.”
There’s no doubting that when Fitchburg State officially drops the puck on the 2020-21 season that it gains an efficient two-way skater, but Clemson also expressed gratitude towards the Revolution coaching staff and his opportunity with the organization.
“They helped me out any way they could and made calls to talk to (NCAA) coaches,” said Clemson. "Coach Rogger let me ‘do my thing’ on the ice and Kanaly gave me a chance on the ice with the team. They boosted my confidence, which is a big thing. They really helped me grow as a confident player and I think they helped me a lot.”
